Serendipity
Don’t you just love it when you discover a new shop when you are running an errand. It takes away the drudgery of the chore you were doing and puts a spring in your step. This is what happened to me recently when I was in Malvern Rd Malvern. This little village has many specialty shops and a few cafes. What really caught my eye was a corner shop with a fabulous cerise pink felt sofa in the window. Of course I ran inside immediately to find the treasures that lay within.
The shop is called DK Living and is curated by the lovely Hanné who originates from Denmark. All stock are original pieces that have been lovingly restored. The pink sofa that caught my eye is a Fritz Hansen design and is called the “romantic ” chair. Hanné only uses Danish fabric and always ensures that pieces are restored as close as possible to the original finish that the designer intended.
She also has homewares and collectibles ranging from mid-century to modern, imported directly from Denmark. Of course it didn’t take long for me to tell her about our lovely new Kasper whose design has been so heavily influenced by the world renown Danish designers of the mid-century. She was most impressed by our interpretation. To top off our meeting of minds Hanné told me that her daughter had bought a Heatherly bedhead from us in the past. Such serendipity!
