Its February already and the Heatherly Design team have already been hard at work on a photo shoot last month producing one new design, and reworking two of our favorites. So close to sharing these with you in the next week…. oh the anticipation I KNOW!
I often have said shoots consume me for a fortnight leading in and the week proceeding. It is probably one of the most exciting times of the year for us….. so if you have ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes to create our dreamy images, here is a little insight into how we do what we do in bringing you our new designs….
We start with mood boards which we analyse for weeks and tweak constantly until we feel we have got it right. We draw from what our clients are telling us they want to see and what we think is the direction for bedrooms for the next season. Once we are all confident in our convictions, we start production which includes ordering fabrics, wallpaper, and frames for all the new product.
Late nights on the ipad scouring for the perfect props whether it be paintings for the wall, a handsome sidetable at just the right height, a handloomed rug to create that luxury feel of a bedroom right down to ceramics to dress our side tables. David Clark ex Vogue Living Editor quoted once “whole is always more than the sum of its parts”. I often think of David and this quote when these shoots come together as there are so “many parts” that make the “whole”. We are fortunate that the wonderful people that make up the Melbourne design community understand this vision as well.
Our boots are laddened with cushions, lamps, prints, bedlinen and trinkets galore! The excitement peaks when all our boots collide in the studio carpark (so to speak!!). Potentially the scene could be mistaken for a car boot sale as we can be seen peering into each others boots in anticipation!!
Others might liken it to children in a candy store!
When our bowerbird gathering is laid out for inspection from no. 1 stylist and photographer, this is when we breathe a sigh of relief. It is at this point that one hands over officially to our incredibly talented photographers and assistants in creating our vision.
They have had their briefing two months prior, now we sit back and watch the artists at work! Yes it is true two weeks ago, I was spotted teary eyed on the morning of our first shoot for 2013 as concept one was nearing completion for photography and it was even more beautiful than I had imagined.
The mood board had come to life and my vision was realised…..
Stay tuned for the newest products heading your way. In the meantime, we share some behind the scenes shots from a shoot completed last year…..
