Using Artwork in Bedrooms
I love artwork in bedrooms, in fact I am slightly obsessed with them. Paintings andartwork add a finishing touch to bare walls, which, lets face it, can be a bit boring.
They enhance walls with colour, texture, and pattern. You can also use them as a jumping off point to inspire your colour scheme. This amazing bedroom below, designed by Mim Design is such an example.
The painting ties the whole scheme together and is the focal point of the room. It is really making a statement.
When we are hunting for props to style our shoots we are always on the look out for a piece of art that can add that extra spark to the shot.
This photograph of our Hugo bedhead would not have the same depth or interest without our favorite black and white cockatoo leant against the wall.
In our shoot for our new Portobello bedhead we were lucky to find a beautiful oil painting of a bust that had the murky colours we needed to play off the charcoal painted wall.
Another great way of adding interest is framing a panel of wallpaper It’s an economical way of bringing art into your bedroom. There are some amazing wallpapers on the market at the moment and you only need one roll (most wallpapers are 10 metres long).
Try your local paint and wallpaper shop, they may have a discontinued bin where you could pick up a bargain!
A great source for artwork is decor and gift shops. They will often feature work from new artists who are not represented by galleries.
