Your step by step guide in creating your own personal sleep sanctuary.
What bedrooms do I like?
Find inspiration! If you are lost on where to start find us on Pinterest or Instagram… once you start you won’t stop! Your precedent imagery will play an important role in developing your overall scheme. Opt for a digital mood board via Pinterest or make your own by hand. We sourced ours from Al + Em Pin boards, and use it regularly with clients in our Melbourne showroom. Find your own style using inspiration from nature, art, textures and styled interiors. There are no rules to your dream bedroom! Many clients choose to bring their bedroom inspiration to our showroom and work with our Interior Decorators to put together their dream look.

What is my colour palette?
Step 1: Decide on a colour! This could be a bright colour or even a dark charcoal or navy.
Step 2: Choose your supplementary colours. These will be your neutrals, think taupe, pastels or greys.
Start with three supplementary colours, adding and removing as you need. This is when your pin board comes in handy! WHY it is important to decide on a colour scheme? Whether you are renovating your entire home or just touching up your sleep sanctuary, choosing and sticking to a colour palette will enable you to focus on a set theme throughout your space. As your style and aesthetic develops you will find it easier to add in pops of colour or texture to add more depth to the space.

How do I want my bedroom to feel?
Take some time to think about the mood you want your bedroom to expel, is it light and fresh or warm with plenty of textures? Your climate may play a big role in your decision. Lighter fabrics and tones in warmer environments will help you wind down after a humid day. A velvet bedhead in North Queensland may seem strange, however in the middle of Winter in Victoria, it’s a girls best friend! Keeping it versatile means you can adapt to the changing weather and season.

How can I accessorise?
Tie together the look with a custom shoebox, footstool or simply some patterned cushions. This is one of our favourite moments in creating a stylish room, so we know firsthand how hard it can be to leave it to the end. This should be your lucky last stage, you won’t know what you are missing until you find that luxe velvet throw to complete the look. Accessories are an affordable and non negotiable aspect of creating your dream bedroom, so have fun with it! Altering your accessories can have the ability to change the entire look of a space with little effort and cost.
