As many of you may know, I love any excuse for a little redecorating and the arrival of a new season is always the perfect time to give my bedroom an update. With cool Autumn nights upon us, I adore curling up in bed with a cup of tea and a good book. With that in mind, I’ve put together some tips for creating the ideal bedroom haven at this time of year.
Autum-ise Your Bedding
Nothing says cosy quite like a lovey Cashmere Throw, draped over the bed for added texture and warmth. Replace the Summer white bed linen with warmer tones such as deep blues, greys, dusty pinks and browns. Moodier colour schemes set the tone for the perfect retreat. Piled up Velvet Cushions in rich jewel tones such as teal, gold and deep pink are the ultimate in Autumn bedding. Introducing new colours and textures through soft furnishings is an ideal way to easily transforming your bedroom.
Add Luxury With Velvet
Velvet is such a luxurious fabric that not only feels incredible to lie against but oozes style. Everything looks a little regal covered in velvet, don’t you think? It catches the Autumn light streaming through windows beautifully too…. velvet is simply a must in the bedroom at this time of year!
Play With Pattern
A statement piece of furniture will give your bedroom an instant new season update, adding a touch of interest without overpowering the space. Choosing pieces in patterned fabrics is a fabulous way to transform your bedroom into an oasis you’ll want to hide away in all Autumn. A bedhead, chair or footstool mixed with other textures makes for an ideal space to bunker down as the weather cools.
Toy With Timber
Rich Autumn fabrics and tones team perfectly with timber pieces in the bedroom. Bedside tables in quality materials such as Victorian Oak stacked with candles and low, soft lighting makes all the difference to the feel of a bedroom. Timber pieces also work back beautifully with rich Autumn textures and tones, such as cashmere and velvet . Another little tip – be sure to choose a bedside lamp with low watt, warm toned bulbs for maximum effect.
