I recently came across this wonderful book that I just had to share with you. As our lives are becoming increasingly busy, it can be so easy to get caught up in the day to day and forget to take time out to enjoy the simple pleasures. With that in mind, ’The Little Book of Hygge’ by Meik Wiking explains perfectly how to incorporate the Danish art of living well into our homes and lives.
But what exactly is Hygge (pronounced ‘hooga’)?
“You know Hygge when you feel it. It is when you are cuddled up on a sofa with a loved one, or sharing comfort food with your closest friends. It is those crisp blue mornings when the light through your window is just right.”
Wiking’s definition really resonates with me as do the below extracts from his book…
10 THINGS THAT WILL MAKE YOUR HOME MORE HYGGE LIKE
“Hygge is about giving your responsible, stressed out achiever adult a break. Relax. Just for a little while. It is about experiencing happiness in simple pleasures and knowing that everything is going to be OK.”
Sounds perfect to me!
