Jen Bishop, founder of Interiors Addict, believes everyone should get joy from their home, whatever their budget and whether they rent or own. Her interior news site is well loved and a must-read for avid home decor lovers!
We were lucky enough to be involved with Jen’s master bedroom and asked her a few questions about the design…

The Sibella looks stunning in your home Jen, were you immediately drawn to it or was it a tough decision?
It was definitely love at first sight but, being such a bold design, I had to think about it for a while to make sure I was still going to love it in a few years. And I’m confident I will! I have been lusting after Heatherly’s designs since we first featured them on the blog years ago. Moving into a new home was a good excuse for a bedroom refresh!
Does hubby get involved or do you have free reign on design choice in your household?
I’m lucky in that Damian does generally let me do my thing (I leave the outdoor decisions to him!) but if he doesn’t like something he puts his foot down and we have to find a compromise we both like. I was actually amazed (and thrilled) when he said he loved this design too. He has better taste than I thought!
Where did you begin with the design of your master bedroom?
Were you set on a particular look? We’re actually not using the master bedroom of our house yet, as there’s a lot we’d like to do with the layout and en suite when funds allow. So we’re in a smaller bedroom for now, and I deliberately wanted to keep it simple and let the bedhead be the hero.
My favourite colour is navy and I have gold accents everywhere, so that was brought in through the gorgeous lamps. The walls and carpet are grey. The room feels very sophisticated, comfortable and calm to me. When you have young kids (we have a toddler, Sebastian) I think it’s nice for your bedroom to be a grown-up, mess-free sanctuary (although I often find toy buses and trains on my bedside table).
Where do you find inspiration, other than the fabulous Interiors Addict?
I’m inspired by local talent like stylist Steve Cordony and designer Greg Natale, overseas design blogs like domino and Style by Emily Henderson, and my huge collection of coffee table books, which I dip in and out of all the time.
The bedroom is your space for… (don’t be naughty now!)…
Sleeping, reading and enjoying that first coffee of the day, brought to me by my wonderful husband!
Do you scroll through Insta when the lights are out or is it a tech free zone?
Against my better judgement, checking Instagram and my emails is one of the first things I do on waking up!
The last book you read in bed was…
Does Vogue count?! I never seem to have time to finish a whole book these days!
Describe how your new bedhead and bedroom makes you feel.
Spoilt!
