It was acclaimed Designer Waldo Fernandez who said
“Form follows function – A home no matter how beautiful, does not succeed it it’s not comfortable.”
We’re sure Fernandez would agree, this renovation in Melbourne’s Brighton East is not only a stunning space but an incredibly functional one too.
Our clients, Camilla and Justin, came home from their stay in a luxurious hotel truly inspired by the open plan layout and considered design. It appealed to the couple who wanted a sophisticated yet practical space that would suit their lifestyle. Camilla could be applying make up for a night out whilst her partner sat on the bench seat and chatted. Or she and her girlfriends could lay out their outfits and drink champagne while they prepared for a day at the races.
To bring Camilla’s dream to life, two existing bedrooms were converted into a generous master bedroom, ensuite and robe area with details to die for. An amazing expressive marble from Signorino incorporating an exquisite palette of pinks, greys, browns, creams and green, became the starting point for the space. It features in the bedside tables and ensuite as well as a styling station with a 2.5 metre wide marble clad island drawer unit.
When it came time for a bedhead, Camilla knew exactly who she wanted to work with. After following Heatherly Design on Instagram for a long time, Camilla says “I didn’t want to go anywhere else.” The couple are also “massive on reviews so if someone has even a couple of bad reviews we won’t use them. You guys have five out of five.”
During their consultation with a Heatherly Interior Designer at our Melbourne showroom, they realised they needed a low bed rather than a bedhead. It didn’t take long for the couple to decide on the Lincoln design. “We were initially going to choose an emerald green but Michelle suggested the sea mist velvet which worked back beautifully with the stone choice.” A coordinating custom bench seat was also created that mirrored the bedhead. “The panels on the bench seat lined up perfectly with the bedhead.” she says.
It was the follow up service after the showroom consultation that impressed Camilla too. “There was a lot of emails from Georgie which we liked. If you are going to renovate something, she is actually the Queen of Bedheads” she says. “For the level of service we received the pricing was absolutely not expensive at all. It’s such a bespoke service and for the amount of emails and texts… the pricing was great.”
