Project Feature: Inside the Bedroom of The Stables Founder, Catherine Heraghty
We are thrilled to take you on a virtual tour inside Catherine Heraghty of The Stables latest project, her very own sleep sanctuary. With over 10 years of Heatherly Design and The Stables collaborating on special bedrooms for Catherine’s clients, this time around it was Catherine’s turn for a bedroom makeover.
Catherine transformed her master bedroom with our Marcel bedhead in our bestselling Belair Snow boucle. Paired with a signature HD valance in the same fabric creating the illusion of a full bed design, Catherine is a master of layering textures.
Let’s delve into Catherine’s creative process and the story behind this personal bedroom makeover.

- Can you share with us a little about the brief and motivation behind the bedroom design?
I wanted my bedroom to feel a little cosier, so I added a beautiful Resene paint colour (Lemon Grass half) to the walls to really make the shape of the bedhead pop. The depth of colour as the backdrop felt warmer and more intimate instantly, with the texture from the fabric (Belair Snow boucle) of the bedhead and valance certainly contributing as well. The shape of the Marcel bedhead also gave the room a more current feel which I loved, it is so grand and decadent I feel like it’s the perfect statement for a master bedroom. The shape is still so lovely and feminine.

- How has the addition of our Marcel bedhead transformed the space?
It definitely feels grander, a slightly more luxe feel which is different to what I am used to but the use of the boucle fabric gave it a younger and more contemporary feel. I love how the bedhead almost hugs the bedside tables and really highlights them as a feature of the space as well, it makes the whole setting feel more cohesive.

- Can you tell us about the choice of boucle fabric and why it was selected?
I wanted texture, I know that Boucle is having a serious moment currently in our industry but it’s beautiful to the touch and to look at so I don’t feel like it will date. I specifically chose the colour for maximum contrast against the lemongrass wall to exaggerate the silhouette of the Marcel bedhead. The valance perfectly ties together the bedhead with the ensemble creating a full bed look.
